Hill McGlynn prides itself on its high quality recruitment process which ensures
that we provide the best candidates for every client's specific requirements. It
is our role to pre-screen and pre-select candidates before submitting their details
to a client to ensure accurate matching from both a client and candidate perspective.
Every candidate is pre-screened by Hill McGlynn using the following process:
- A structured interview with a trained Consultant who will assess the
overall quality of the candidate, probe and question in detail about their employment
history and accurately determine the personal and career motivators of the candidate.
- A Hill McGlynn formatted CV is written for each candidate which allows
the client easy comparison of different candidates' details.
- References provided by previous line managers the written details of
which are included with the Candidates CV
- Every candidate is fully briefed on the opportunity to ensure that there
is a detailed understanding by the candidate of the role, the company, the career
progression, support for professional development and all other areas which will
ensure a match between what the candidate wants and what the client can offer. Essentially
it is our job to ensure that once a candidate walks through the client's door for
their first interview the client can explore areas of specific interest to them
rather than start at the very beginning of the selection process.
It is Hill McGlynn's aim to provide a client with 2-3 quality CV's for each position.
Hill McGlynn also offers a range of bespoke recruitment solutions including:-
- Retained Assignments which are typically suitable for more senior or
very difficult to fill roles
- Project staffing which is an appropriate recruitment methodology for
major projects requiring high volumes of site based personnel
- Advertising based products which covers a range of recruitment options
and is frequently used as a supporting method in an overall campaign
The process for freelance positions is similar to that of permanent except Candidate
interviews are generally conducted by phone due to the fast turn-around required
by Clients. References are especially important given the very task orientated nature
of freelance or contract client requirements and Hill McGlynn endeavours to obtain
a reference from a client when a freelance candidate completes an assignment to
ensure that the referencing process is constantly refreshed for each candidate
On average Hill McGlynn can have up to two thousand freelance candidates, from Labourers
to Site Managers on site at any one time, and has a resource database of over 200,000
potential candidates, many of whom have been placed on contract assignment by Hill
McGlynn and whose abilities are well known to us.
Due to the increasing importance of Health and Safety within the Construction Industry
especially in the provision of freelance personnel to site Hill McGlynn have introduced
a number of initiatives including the appointment of a permanent, full time construction
qualified Health and Safety Manager, verbal site risk assessments with the client
prior to commencement of the candidate and ongoing active and practical support
of the CSCS initiative.
The Customer Support Centre improve levels of care available to clients and candidates.
Established in 2000, our team of advisors provide a unique service by continually
updating candidate records, taking references, providing an aftercare service and
support the branch network in updating our nationwide database. By increasing the
volume and accuracy of information available to our Consultants, response times
to Clients are reduced, which in today’s highly pressurized construction industry
is all too important.
Additionally, the Customer Support Centre supports marketing and promotional activities
and acts as a central point of contact for any customer wishing to gain information
on Hill McGlynn.
