You don't realise how much someone means to you and how much of an affect they have on your life until they are gone. Stephen did so much and meant so much to me and my family that I cannot put it into words. I will hold these memories close and always try to work to Stephen's exceptional standards as a businessman but more importantly as a person. I am immensely lucky to have known Stephen and his family. My thoughts and prayers are with Alison, Jon, Louise, Matthew, Ashley and Anouska.

Stephen was a board director of RITE, the company I set up and ran for the REC. He was supportive in the extreme, full of great ideas and cared genuinely for the cause - which was to ensure that start-ups in our industry worked to high quality standards. Stephen became a friend and this friendship continued after I left REC. My lasting memory of him will be the fun a group of us were having at the end of the Recuiter Awards dinner this March. I will miss him loads.

Stephen Hill was a man of quiet inspiration to me. Even as the company grew he seemed to know everyone’s name and could be found chatting as easily to the directors as to the cleaners. That people loved working as he did and were happy was important to him and with a quick joke and a smile he brought determination to those around him. He will be missed.

When I heard of this tragic event I had tears in my eyes! Ihave known Stephen since the 80's when he was the Chairman of the IEC Southern Region. He helped me with getting memebrship and I then succeeded him in that role. he was a motivator, mentor and a great guy to have listen to you.
When he came to Melbourne he would call me and we would have a drink.
Often he would ask me if I was happy where I was and he said there is always room for you in Hill McGlynn.
Rest in peace Stephen.

I met Stephen 15 years ago at a staffing convention in Las Vegas and was immediately captivated. Oh how he loved to wind us up! Over the years Stephen developed a posse of American friends who are all mourning him by email, especially today, as he is laid to rest.Stephen personified all that is loved in a friend, all that is expected of a gentleman and all that is admired in a good human being. Ali has lost her Prince, the family have lost there rock and we all mourn together.

I think it's hard to look at Stephens achievements and not be impressed that he managed to squeeze it all into such a short number of years. The world was made a better place for having him in it and I offer my greatest sympathy to Alison and his children. We will remember you.

I was shocked to hear about the death of Stephen, I knew him from School times. A light went out when he died, and there is now a void that cannot be filled. God bless you Stephen, and Alison and your children - I am sure you are now teaching the angels how to play "Fuzzy Duck".

Stephen has had a long affiliation with the Vineyard being one of our longest standing and regular customers. Stephen was a very honest person, always an absolute delight to look after and many here at the Vineyard regarded him as a personal friend and part of the family here. I will miss his great sense of humour and infectious spirit he created. The thoughts of the entire team here at the Vineyard are with Alison and the family.

Stephen had a long affiliation with the recruitment trade association FRES and the REC, having served previously as Chairman and more recently as a director on the board. I feel priviledged to have known him. He was a very astute business man and someone who clearly loved life and his family. You will be very sadly missed Stephen, especially your wit, generosity, advice and not least your friendship. You were one of a kind. My thoughts and prayers go to Alison and the family at this time.

I am so proud of my son who started Hill McGlynn in Christchurch all those years ago. He was such a caring son and will be greatly missed by the family. No longer will I hear the greeting "Hi Pops". Many people in our North Devon village of Lee where Stephen was born have sent their condolences.
Dad and Margaret.
