Thinking about ‘Making your Agency Work Better for you’
The current demand for skilled tradesmen and women within the UK is now higher than ever. It is now possible for candidates to earn more than ever in the agency arena with many flexible working options available. Long gone are days when agency workers were considered ‘second class citizens’ both in terms of earnings and in status.
Whilst working for Hill McGlynn there are some handy tips and hints which you can use to ensure the relationship between you and your consultants remains strong and your earning potential is maximised.
1. Remember – communication and forward planning are the key! Keep your consultant informed so we know when your current project is finishing as soon as possible. That way we can be sourcing new work for you as early as possible alleviating any fears in terms of continuity.
2. Think hard before you accept an assignment. Can you get there? Can you get parked? Are you comfortable with the rate? It is your right to reject any assignment if you feel it is not right for you but so much wasted time and frustration can be avoided if you reject the assignment before you are actually due to start it. That way goodwill on both sides remains intact.
3. If you cannot attend site or you are going to be late then please let your consultant know as early as possible. We can then inform your client company.
4. Getting your timesheet in on time is your responsibility. We will chase up timesheet where logistically possible but please do not rely on it. If you are having problems getting your timesheet in then let your consultant know as soon as possible.
5. Keep your consultant informed of any projects you see or hear about that you feel you may be suited to. Most of the construction industry companies that you come across have an account with Hill McGlynn so we can make an approach quickly.
